Parabolic flights are used to carry out short microgravity scientific & technology investigations, and are the only real way to simulate microgravity on Earth.
Click on the video above to see a short clip of the parabolic flight campaign completed in 2006 to assess the use of an arterlialised blood collecting device in microgravity.
A lot of hard work going into the preparation for the 3 days of flights but also a lot of fun, and such a magical feeling being able to experience the feeling of 'weightlessness'. | * Next Parabolic Flight Campaign hopefully in 2011 *
With the advent of Space tourism, more and more people will have the opportunity to experience the sensation and joys of a ride on the vomit comet! Sufferers of motion sickness beware as you could spend the flight with your head hidden in a brown paper bag, although with the number of parabolas kept to 20, and improvements in motion sickness medication most people should be fine. Lets face it........... if Stephen Hawking can fly on a ZeroG flight then anyone can! Click HERE to return to main Research page
